Our 2011 Annual Report

Words from our Executive Director, Noulmook Sutdhibhasilp

“ACAS as an organization is still true to its mission and mandate: to serve and reach out to vulnerable members of the East and Southeast Asian communities in Ontario who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Although there was a recent and anticipated cut to public health budget at every level of government, our volunteers, board members, staff, and allies work in solidarity to make sure that our limited resources work as effectively and efficiently as possible in this difficult time.

I am proud to say that we have accomplished a great deal in the year 2011-12. Some notable activities in the past year are:

• New HIV/STIs outreach initiative to heterosexual men
• S.L.A.M. – Sex, Love Asian Men Conference
• A.I.M. – Asian in Motion, Queer Asian Youth Forum
• Asian Migrant Farm Workers, Healthcare Needs and HIV Prevention: A communitybased research
• Social media and community engagement project

On a sad note, we lost Patrick Truong, our colleague in mid February 2012. His passion and dedication to serve HIV+ people have touched and inspired so many lives. He will be missed by all of us.”
